West Bridgewater, Mass.-based Shaw's, a division of grocery retailer Supervalu Inc., announced that Mike Witynski will take over as president of Shaw's Osco and Star Market effective Aug. 10. He replaces Larry Wahlstrom, who is retiring.

Witynski most recently served as group vice president of Supervalu's Our Own Brands unit. In this role, he oversaw the strategic operations of the company's line of private-label products. He first joined Supervalu in 1990 as a retail business consultant in Des Moines, Iowa, and has since worked in positions of increasing responsibility, including director positions in operations, merchandising and procurement.

There are approximately 195 Shaw's store locations in six New England states.
