Save-On-Foods workers from Squamish to Chilliwack have voted 58% against the latest contract offer from their company.

Members of United Food and Commercial Workers local 1518 voted Tuesday night to reject the offer and will issue 72-hour perishable notice this morning.

Andy Neufeld, Director of Communications for U.F.C.W says the living wage issue was a big sticking point for the members. “There's real concern about the cost of living and what's going on in the economy for ordinary working forks.” He also adds this was a principle vote.

If a deal isn’t reached picket lines will be up at all Save-On-Foods stores first thing Sunday morning
