Local 700 Members Ratify Good Contract with Kroger

Local 700 members and workers at Kroger in Indianapolis, Ind., ratified a new contract on Wednesday, June 18. The new contract is actually a merger of the Meat and Clerk contract and will ensure that the workers have more bargaining strength in the future, as well as secure several key improvements for the Meat contract. These improvements include seniority rights, better paid leave and Holiday leave policies, as well as improved language throughout the contract.

 The new four-year contract:

  • Expanded preventative care

  • No increase in weekly health insurance premiums

  • Increased the part-time pay scale cap, while completely eliminating the cap for full-time workers in many departments

  • More flexibility in overtime requests

  • Protection of pensions, and an increase in employer contribution

  • Provided for wage and bonus increases throughout the contract period

  • Improved prescription coverage

  • And more…

Thanks to the hard work and solidarity of the members of Local 700, the new agreement protects and enhances the rights of the workers involved. This great achievement proves that we really are more powerful when we stick together.
